The words “creative” and “analytical” don’t often bring the same picture to mind but for me they are the perfect combination of superpowers. I am best known on my team as a graphic designer with serious Smartsheet skills (I even have the coffee mug to prove it).
The coffee mug and newfound Smartsheet skills came from a reporting problem. Our team was creating e-learning content but had no way to track the completions of said content. While there are great tools pre-built for such a task; we were working on a budget. As Tim Gunn would say, it was a real “make it work moment”. Up until this reporting problem I would not have been able to tell you what a “Index Match Look Up” was or even how to craft the most basic of formulas in a spreadsheet.
The next month of my life became a self-lead crash course in all things Smartsheet and excel. I learned sheets, reports, and dashboards, making me the resident Smartsheet guru on our team. Our new completion tracking Smartsheet system allows visibility for learners and their managers to know what has been completed and the test scores of the e-learning content. It has also provided my team with insight on what topics need to be revisited, what teams need additional support, and has increased user engagement across the board.
